Climate change (<em>climate change<\/em>) that occur today directly or indirectly affect the management of farmers <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/en\/info-medion\/ayam-broiler\/\" data-type=\"category\" data-id=\"228\">chicken\u00a0<em>broiler<\/em><\/a><\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em>especially in the cage\u00a0<em>open house<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the time of extreme weather conditions, namely from very hot heat and then suddenly it rains or vice versa, making the temperature and humidity of the cage change drastically. If not handled properly it can result in high mortality and decreased production.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the application of the enclosure system&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em>&nbsp;then maintenance management will be more appropriate, especially related to the conditions of the microenvironment in the cage. These microenvironmental conditions include :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Air speed<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enclosure humidity<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Temperature in the enclosure<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Air velocity is very influential on&nbsp;<em>performance&nbsp;<\/em>chicken&nbsp;<em>broiler&nbsp;<\/em>because with the speed of the air will immediately dissipate the heat in the cage. Chicken performance&nbsp;<em>broiler&nbsp;<\/em>among other things, it is determined by genetics, nutrition, and the environment and by the implementation of appropriate management. Performance&nbsp;<em>broiler&nbsp;<\/em>will be more optimal by applying the cage&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em>&nbsp;because some parameters of the microenvironment in the cage can be controlled, among others :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Air speed<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Air velocity inside the cage&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em>&nbsp;can be controlled in accordance with the target at any age of maintenance, namely :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Week 1 : 0.3-0.5 m\/s<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Week 2 : 0.5-0.8 m\/s<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Week 3 : 0.8-1.8 m\/s<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Week 4 to harvest : 1.8-3.2 m \/ s<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>With settings&nbsp;<em>inlet&nbsp;<\/em>and&nbsp;<em>outlet<\/em>&nbsp;in the ventilation system&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em>&nbsp;then the target airspeed can be set. The air speed setting is of course adjusted to the age of chicken maintenance&nbsp;<em>broiler<\/em>&nbsp;because every age of chicken rearing&nbsp;<em>broiler&nbsp;<\/em>it has an airspeed limit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the air velocity is excess or less it will greatly interfere with the growth of chickens&nbsp;<em>broiler&nbsp;<\/em>such. The speed of the air in the cage will also determine the effective temperature felt by the chicken. Temperature inside the enclosure&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The temperature read on the thermometer in the cage&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em>&nbsp;actually, it is different from the temperature felt by the chicken&#039;s body. The temperature felt by the chicken&#039;s body is called the effective temperature. This effective temperature is influenced by 3 factors, namely room temperature (readable temperature), air humidity in the cage, and air flow velocity in the cage. An example of an effective temperature table as in Table 1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the care of chickens&nbsp;<em>broiler<\/em>&nbsp;it turns out that the temperature requirement is different at each age. Target cage temperature in the period&nbsp;<em>starter<\/em>\/<em>brooding period,&nbsp;<\/em>it can be used as a heating pad (<em>space heater<\/em>) or<em>&nbsp;spot heater<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Heating system (<em>space heater<\/em>) will be more efficient for larger capacities because what is heated is the entire room inside&nbsp;<em>brooder<\/em>. Furthermore, for temperature regulation at the end of maintenance life\/<em>finisher<\/em>&nbsp;what chickens need&nbsp;<em>broiler&nbsp;<\/em>is a lower temperature\/cold, then the temperature setting in this period is more controlled by the number of fans&nbsp;<em>running&nbsp;<\/em>on the other hand, and use&nbsp;<em>cooling pad<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Setting the number of fans that are on in the period&nbsp;<em>starter&nbsp;<\/em>and&nbsp;<em>finisher&nbsp;<\/em>is different because in the period&nbsp;<em>starter&nbsp;<\/em>it is designed to be used for the heating and cooling of the room (<em>space heater<\/em>). While the fan settings in the period&nbsp;<em>finisher&nbsp;<\/em>more aimed at pursuing the target perceived temperature of the chicken (effective temperature), so the air velocity is needed to make the conditions in the cage to be lower temperature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Air humidity<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Air humidity conditions in tropical climates is a fairly high humidity level and the humidity level must be able to be controlled by the ventilation system&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em>. This air humidity Parameter will indeed be a little more difficult to control with the system&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em>&nbsp;than the air velocity and temperature in the cage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, with proper ventilation settings, the humidity conditions in the cage can be slightly controlled and not getting higher which will result in the environment in the cage getting hotter and the effective temperature felt by the chicken will be hotter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"918\" height=\"275\" src=\"https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/AU-04.jpg\" alt=\"effective temperature table by temperature\" class=\"wp-image-80396\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/AU-04.jpg 918w, https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/AU-04-300x90.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/AU-04-768x230.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/AU-04-18x5.jpg 18w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 918px) 100vw, 918px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Some ways that can be done to control humidity are :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Air speed regulation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Addition of heating when the period&nbsp;<em>brooding period,<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Direction setting of incoming air velocity of&nbsp;<em>inlet<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inner curtain\/curtain arrangement&nbsp;<em>blocking<\/em>&nbsp;period&nbsp;<em>brooding period,<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Addition of paranet \/ nets outside the area&nbsp;<em>inlet<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Settings&nbsp;<em>cooling pad<\/em>&nbsp;the right and not excessive<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to being able to control the microenvironment in the cage,&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em>&nbsp;can also improve the conditions that support the increase in productivity&nbsp;<em>broiler<\/em>&nbsp;among others:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">a.&nbsp;<em>Feeder space<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>water space<\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Characteristics of cages&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em>&nbsp;the use of a food processor (<em>feeding system<\/em>and drink (<em>watering system<\/em>). The automatic system is applied to the cage&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em>&nbsp;thus making human resource needs more efficient. With&nbsp;<em>feeding system<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>watering system<\/em>&nbsp;automatic it will be more appropriate in terms of availability and distribution of feed and drinking water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Feeder space<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>water space<\/em>&nbsp;must be considered because it will determine the amount&nbsp;<em>feed intake<\/em>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<em>water intake&nbsp;<\/em>chicken&nbsp;<em>broiler<\/em>. Examples of implementation&nbsp;<em>feeder space<\/em>&nbsp;for the type of feed&nbsp;<em>automatic pan feeder&nbsp;<\/em>is the determination of the number of chickens about 45-55 heads per pan&nbsp;<em>feeder<\/em>, while&nbsp;<em>water space<\/em>&nbsp;for the type of drinking place&nbsp;<em>nipple drinker<\/em>&nbsp;is 10-12 heads per&nbsp;<em>nipple<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"435\" height=\"383\" src=\"https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/AU-05-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-80398\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/AU-05-1.jpg 435w, https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/AU-05-1-300x264.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/AU-05-1-14x12.jpg 14w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 435px) 100vw, 435px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">b. The value of weight uniformity on&nbsp;<em>broiler&nbsp;<\/em>it is said to be good if the value is &gt;80%. Harvest<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Performance&nbsp;<em>broiler<\/em>&nbsp;on the cage&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em>&nbsp;it will be optimal if at the end of the maintenance, that is, at the time of harvesting, it is done correctly. If the workforce is not competent in terms of production and technical operation of the tool then in when using equipment enclosure&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em>&nbsp;there will be a lot of problems in the cage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By using the enclosure system&nbsp;<em>closed house<\/em>&nbsp;then we can optimize the growth and increase the number of chickens in one cage (<em>density<\/em>). IP value indicates a successful chicken production process that is influenced by mortality, FCR, body weight, and age of harvest.
