Modern broiler chickens have the following advantages :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Fast growth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Big breast meat<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low feed conversion (FCR)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>But it has disadvantages, including :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Susceptible to disease<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sensitive to the environment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Low feed conversion (FCR)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Immune-forming organs are unbalanced by weight growth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So there is a need for special attention to chicken related maintenance management, especially in extreme weather like today. When a chicken is one day old or DOC, it is a cold-blooded animal so it cannot regulate its own body temperature until it is 5 days old. After 5 days the chicken can regulate its own body temperature so it is called a warm-blooded animal. The need for temperature in chickens&nbsp;<em>broiler<\/em>&nbsp;can be seen in Table 1 below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"658\" height=\"653\" src=\"https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/KT03-1-2.jpg\" alt=\"Ideal temperature requirement\" class=\"wp-image-83172\" style=\"width:388px;height:auto\" title=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/KT03-1-2.jpg 658w, https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/KT03-1-2-300x298.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/KT03-1-2-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/02\/KT03-1-2-12x12.jpg 12w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 658px) 100vw, 658px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>If the temperature received by the chicken is too hot it will result in :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Heat stress<em>heat stress<\/em>) with symptoms of chicken panting quickly and the condition of the beak is open, the feathers are raised, and the wings are also lifted up as a response to sweat.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chickens will drink more due to dehydration. Excessive drinking will result in diarrhea, as water is excreted in the urine<em>&nbsp;<\/em>and feces in poultry. Thus resulting in&nbsp;<em>litter<\/em>&nbsp;wet and ammonia levels in the cage will increase. Chickens will be more susceptible to respiratory diseases such as CRD and korisa.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If some of these conditions are not treated immediately will cause death in chickens.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If the temperature received by the chicken is too cold, it will result in :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>DOC&#039;s chickens that receive too cold temperatures will gather under the heater. Chickens tend to be silent, curled up with wet feet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The chicken is cooked (<em>feed intake<\/em>&nbsp;not fulfilled)..so that growth is stunted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Actions that need to be done during extreme weather so that the condition of the chicken remains prime, namely :<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Create&nbsp;<em>comfort zone<\/em>&nbsp;or a comfort zone with the repair of a leaky cage roof, arrangement of cage ventilation, good ration management and provision of quality drinking water.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintain the immune system of chickens by giving vitamins such as\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/en\/produk\/fortevit\/\" data-type=\"product_post\" data-id=\"2259\">Fortevit<\/a>\/<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/en\/produk\/vita-stress\/\" data-type=\"product_post\" data-id=\"2981\">Vita Stress<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and immunostimulating herbs such as\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.medion.co.id\/en\/produk\/imustim\/\" data-type=\"product_post\" data-id=\"2373\">Imustim<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and carry out vaccination programs on schedule.
