Poultry pullet in my cage before the ILT vaccination, symptoms of ILT infection had arisen. Can I still give the vaccine or wait for the chicken to be healthy first? Then can the next period ILT vaccination program be done?
Answer:
Dear. Mrs. Damayanti, thank you for the question. Pullet chickens that have shown symptoms of ILT infection, mothers can do this treatment to reduce the severity of the disease. Actions that can be taken include:
- Selection and isolation in affected chickens based on the severity of the disease.
- Administration of antibiotics, especially to prevent secondary infection by bacteria in the respiratory tract. Antibiotics that can be given are Neo Meditril, or Proxan-S, or Therapy.
- Assign immunostimulants such as Imustim which serves to increase the immunity of poultry. As supportive, also provide vitamins to increase the stamina of the chicken body as contained in Vita Stress or Fortevit, which will help the healing process of the disease to be faster.
- To suppress the virus in the field, disinfect the cage and equipment using Desinsep or Medisep.
ILT disease is a disease caused by a virus and cannot be treated completely. The choice to vaccinate ILT or not, depends on the condition of the chickens and the level of ILT susceptibility on the farm. So for the next period, because the mother's farm including ILT-prone areas, it can do 2 vaccinations on laying hens with Medivac ILT for livestock areas with a high risk of ILT attack at the age of 6-7 weeks and then repeated at the age of 16-17 weeks. Or at least 2-3 weeks before the age of the attack.
