I am a broiler breeder, are there any good stool deodorizers? because my cage is very close to the settlement. Thank you.

Answer :

Dear. Mr. Wahyu, thank you for the question. One of the common problems that arise in chicken farms is the problem of cage odor. A pungent odor is sometimes the cause of complaints from the public (if the location of the cage is close to the settlement). Not to mention the serious impact on the health and productivity of livestock and cage workers. So, what can we do to reduce the smell of the cage?

Strong smelling cages are usually caused by high ammonia levels. Ammonia is a gas produced by the process of breaking down the remains of nitrogen contained in feces by ureolytic bacteria. Ammonia itself in the environment exists in 2 forms, namely the form of bound or dissolved in faecal fluid (NH₄OH) and the gaseous form (NH₃).

Indonesia has a tropical climate with a system and management of maintenance that is not entirely correct, it is almost certain that the levels of ammonia gas produced are very high. This situation has not been fully realized, let alone the impact of the high ammonia gas. As a concrete example is still a lot farm the distance between the cages is only about 5 meters, so the air flow is not smooth which results in the accumulation of ammonia gas in the cage. Not to mention if the density of the broiler cage exceeds the standard size, so litter become wet quickly and eventually ammonia gas accumulates in the broiler cage.

If the concentration of ammonia is already very high and the smell is already pungent, then the breeder should immediately take measures to reduce it. In addition to regulating air circulation and improving chicken rearing management, farmers can also use certain chemicals that are able to work to bind ammonia. Considering the danger posed by ammonia is very large, especially for livestock businesses in Indonesia with a tropical climate and maintenance procedures, it is necessary to take planned and appropriate action to overcome it.

Ammotrol can be used to make the stool texture drier and reduce the smell of ammonia in the cage. Ammotrol will bind ammonia formed from protein metabolic waste into a non-volatile and non-toxic form so that the ammonia smell is reduced, the air in the cage becomes clean, and optimal livestock growth. Under these conditions will trigger an increase in body weight and egg production. Ammotrol it can also help increase the permeability of the intestinal wall so that nutrients are easily absorbed by the intestine which causes the use of rations to be efficient and body weight to increase.

Ammotrol safe to use daily for long periods of time to bind ammonia without causing side effects and residue. Ammotrol may also decrease Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), improve the health and productivity of livestock. Awarding Ammotrol also relatively easy, simply sprayed into feces or dissolved in drinking water, and can be given together/mixed with vitamins or antibiotics.
