Questions from Bpk. Putra – by Email

My chicken feces are greenish yellow liquid. I have tried it many times but it keeps coming back. Had a normal brown color change, but after 1 Week relapsed again. The chicken's appetite remains voracious. Please help me get my chicken healthy.

Answer

Thank you son for the question. Normal chicken feces will be greenish or brownish, solid/clay, with a white part covered with uric acid at the top. The presence of changes in the shape and color of chicken feces is an indication of a disorder in the digestive system and the health of chickens. A thorough physical examination needs to be done to determine the symptoms that occur and determine the diagnosis. If necessary, confirmation of the diagnosis can be done by conducting laboratory tests. Here are some factors that cause changes in stool condition and handling:

Heat stress

At the time of hot cage conditions the need for water for chickens will increase sharply. If in normal temperature the ratio of water needs: feed is 2 : 1, then in hot conditions can reach 5: 1. Chicken will naturally increase its drinking consumption to lower body temperature. The effect that can result from this is that the stool becomes more watery. Handling heat stress can be done by setting adequate ventilation in the cage so as not to overheat, especially when the weather is hot. In addition, vitamins can also be given Vita Stress to help lower stress levels.

Nutritional disorders

High levels of protein and salt in the feed can disrupt the electrolyte balance in the body, making the stool wetter. High salt levels will trigger increased water consumption so that the chicken becomes diarrhea. Similarly, with protein levels that are too high, the remaining undigested protein can cause uric acid deposits in the kidneys that trigger chickens to drink more. Therefore, provide feed that suits the needs of chickens. If necessary, check the nutritional levels of the feed and can be matched with the label on the feed sack to ensure the nutritional levels are appropriate.

Infectious diseases

Gastrointestinal infections caused by bacteria, viruses, and parasites can cause symptoms of diarrhea. Examples of diseases that can cause diarrhea are NE, colibacillosissalmonellosis, kolera dan penyakit viral seperti AI, Gumboro, IB, ND. While parasitic worms, coccidiosis and Leucocytozoonosis it can also cause diarrhea. Handling that can be done is :

  • Give antibiotics Neo MeditrilProxan-S or Gentamin/Medoxy LA to cope with the infection E. Coli infectionSalmonella and cholera.
  • NE disease and coccidiosis can be assigned Therapy/Fithera.
  • Infection leucocytozoonosis can be overcome by Maladex.
  • Worm diseases can be given drugs according to the type of worms such as Levamid for tapeworms and gilig or Vermixon Sirop for convex worms.
  • As for viral diseases, revaccination can be done to increase the immunity of chickens and antibiotics such as Neo Meditril to prevent secondary infection.
  • Give vitamins such as Vita Strong or Fortevit to speed up the healing process.

There are several important factors that determine the success of a treatment, namely the right diagnosis, the right drug, the right dose, the right duration and the right application of administration. The accuracy of the diagnosis of the disease will affect the choice of drugs used. Then the accuracy of the dose, duration and application of administration needs to be in accordance with the rules of use.

So that all these factors are interrelated and the whole thing needs to be done correctly. If the treatment that has been done has not shown optimal results, it is necessary to re-evaluate what factors are not suitable. So that the treatment carried out can overcome the cause of the disease.
